April 19: Just to let you guys know that I just sent you an email with a nice timeline in it... as I've said in the email, it's not specific to the Fur Trade Era, so you don't necessarily have to include anything in YOUR timeline that is outside of your chapter reading for this week. I just thought it's a really useful timeline, and we can refer back to it throughout the trimester. Here's the link (same link as in the email):

March 12: Welcome to the first day of Trimester 3! We sat in circle today and had tea and muffins, and took a look at the course outline. Please make sure that you understand your responsibilities in this class, and what my responsibilities are as well.
While still in circle, I asked you to come up with a thought as to what the word "reconciliation" means. You all did a really good job with your answers. T'oyaxsut 'nüün! We then watched a video of Senator Murray Sinclair talking about his view of reconciliation:

I asked you the following three questions:
According to Mr. Sinclair,
The answers we came up with were:
1. Because Indigenous and non-Indigenous people have been taught that Indigeneity is worth less than being white.
2. Education.
3. It looks like restoring the balance between the two relationships (Indigenous and non-Indigenous).
That's all we had time for. See you tomorrow. :)
According to Mr. Sinclair,
- Why is reconciliation necessary?
- What is the basis of reconciliation?
- What does reconciliation look like?
