Les Classes de Madame GZ
Terme 4, 2021: le 4 janvier - le premier février
Bienvenue à ma salle de classe! Welcome to my classroom.
Our emphasis in our French class is to learn the sort of French that you might need if you were traveling to a French-speaking place, or just speaking French to someone closer to home.
We will concentrate on everyday topics; for Grade 9s, we'll learn about describing yourself, your clothing, ordering food in a restaurant, talking about your family, walking around town, and traveling. In Grade 10, we'll start off by talking about houses, then health, cooking, jobs, and artists. In Grade 11, we'll start with a friendship unit, then learn about recycling, true tellings, and (saving the best 'till last), lots of facts about French wine, including how it's made and the best foods to pair it with. And in our very special Grade 12 class, we'll be learning all about the Haida Nation, concentrating on their art, history, and resistance to colonization.
It may surprise you to know that you don't need a "knack for languages" to succeed in your efforts to improve your French. What success really boils down to is coming to class and paying attention, taking good notes, doing a bit of work on your own each day (homework!), and getting help when you don't understand. If you do these things, you'll have lots of success in my classroom.

STEVE.
Mme GZ and the amazing Haida artist Michael Nichol Yahgulanaas at the Bill Reid Gallery in Vancouver; October 2, 2016. Michael was giving an artist's workshop which Mme GZ crashed so that she could meet her idol. He did not disappoint! :)
